In a new study where nearly 900 children between six months and two years old were put on the list to make a researched, researchers found that those who spent more time using handheld devices were more likely to have delays in expressive speech, compared to children who didn’t use the devices as much. Ther is the surprising fact that says that for every 30 minutes of screen time, there was a 49% increased risk of expressive speech delay. The research was very useful and was led by pediatricians at the Hospital for Sick Children in Canada, was presented at the annual meeting of the Pediatric Academic Societies.

What these results show is that if parents are trying to address their child’s language development with educational apps, it’s probably not working on a population scale,” says Dr. Jenny Radesky, assistant professor of developmental-behavioral pediatrics at the University of Michigan and member of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ executive committee of the council on communications and media.

These words should be motivation for every parent and we should all stop giving our phones to our children with the aim to leave us alone.

Reading books is an important part of parenthood and helping your little children to talk

Parents should read books to their children while they are growing and these books should be in their mother language. In this way, kids will start talking in their own mother language and won’t mix other foreign languages. Reading is very important and I think that every parent should find some time to read something to their kids. In case that they don’t have time, they should call their grandparents to do this and to force their children to forget a little to their phones, i-Pads, and PCs. Even after the child is reading, the reading shouldn’t stop by the side of their parents and grandparents. Otherwise, the older child should read to the small child and help it to start talking.
